| | | | General Yaşar Büyükanıt, the head of the Turkish Land Forces, speaking just after the ECHR on Thursday handed down its decision on the appeal lodged by the former leader of the terrorist group the PKK, queried the legal basis for the ruling.
“I do not think that the ECHR decision has a legal dimension. It is fully a political decision,” Büyükanıt said.
However, Büyükanıt said that at the moment he should not be commenting as the army was a party involved in the case. He also said that the position of the military on this subject was clear.
